Göteborg Museum of Art
The Göteborg Museum of Art houses collections from the 15th century to today. The museum has a Nordic emphasis but the collections also contain older Dutch and French art, including important works by Rembrandt, van Gogh, Monet and Picasso, to take a few examples. The Göteborg Museum of Art owns one of the leading collections of Nordic art from the turn of the previous century. On the top floor visitors find the Fürstenberg Gallery, originally a private collection and later donated to the museum. The gallery is installed in a setting typical of its period, and here visitors find paintings by such Nordic artists as Ernst Josephson, Carl Larsson, P. S Krøyer and Anders Zorn. The contemporary galleries contain art from 1945 onwards. The emphasis here too is mainly on Nordic art, but the collection also includes work from outside the Nordic area. The Stenasal is used for temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.
